Mohamed (Mo) F. Doheim, MD, PhD, FRCP
Founding Director and Principal Investigator
Clinical Research Assistant Professor of Neurology, UPMC Stroke Institute, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Dr. Doheim earned his PhD from Maastricht University and completed the NIH StrokeNet Fellowship at the UPMC Stroke Institute. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2026, and leads the lab's work on individualized treatment, clinical trials and translational innovation.
Raul G. Nogueira, MD, FAHA, FSVIN
Founding Co-Director and Co-Principal Investigator
Endowed Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery; Division Chief, Cerebrovascular Medicine; Director, UPMC Stroke Institute
Dr. Nogueira trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and led the Grady and Emory stroke programs before joining Pitt in 2022. A founder of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, he has led pivotal thrombectomy trials, including DAWN, BEST, RESILIENT and ATTENTION, and authored more than 700 publications.
